Gemma & Rocky at Crabbs Barn
Gemma and Rocky were getting married at Crabbs Barn, Kelvedon, Essex, it’s a fantastic venue to have their photographs taken, full of character and charm.
It also has great backdrops and plenty of space, and a fantastic venue for hosting your wedding and reception.
Its set in open countryside in Essex, conveniently situated just off the A12, it is a popular venue.
For me the day started with me meeting up with Gemma, her bridal party and family at their family cottage.
When I arrived the hair and makeup preparation were underway.
We wanted to make use of the surrounding grounds and Mum had arranged for the horse to be in the paddock at the end of the garden.
So we made early use of the wellie boots I carry with me.
One of the moments I do like to try and capture is when Dad see’s his daughter for the very first time!
Its always a very special moment and not something that can be recrerated.
Nick (the second photographer) met up with Rocky and the boys at a local hotel.
This is always something we try and do, its great for the bride to see some of the grooms preparations and for us to spend a little time with the boys before the slightly more formal photos.
Gemma arrived at Crabbs Barn a tad too early.
But this gave us a bit of time to get some photos of her with Dad around the car.
Dad had been pretty busy for the day.
He had made some great letters ‘LOVE’ that we used a lot both during the day and in the evening.
I think the nerves were building a little for Rocky as he waited for Gemma, which is a great thing to see.
The ceremony room at Crabbs Barn is full of character and makes for an amazing backdrop to any photos.
After the ceremony and reception drinks the guests were entertained by an some amazing close up magic.
This is when to took some of the more formal group photos and the confetti photos.
We had allowed some time to have a bit of fun with the bridal party.
Again making use of the wellie boots I carry, the girls were great sports and probably enjoyed getting out of their heels for a short time, also getting a few photos of all the wedding party before sitting down for the wedding breakfast.
During the wedding breakfast he sun was setting, so we asked Gemma and Rocky if they would come outside with us for 10 minutes so we could make use of the evening sun.
We hope they managed to get back to their deserts!
As the sun sets and gives off that soft light, it always a great time to get a few photos of the newly married couple.
The day finished for us with the first dance and Gemmas dance with her Dad.
At the end of this blog is a link to a slideshow of a few of the images from the day, there is also a link to all the proof photos, but you will need that password to view them.
