Gemma & Stevens wedding at Down Hall
It was a real pleasure to be asked to photograph the wedding of Gemma & Steven at Down Hall.
I first met Gemma and Steven at a wedding fair at the end of 2015, which seems ages ago now!
Our day started with me meeting up with Gemma and the bridal party at Down Hall, its an amazing Country House on the Hertfordshire / Essex borders.
This is a classic country house and comes with some amazing photo opportunities both inside the house and in the beautiful grounds.
One of the great things with Down Hall is that the bridal party have their own set of rooms and a seating area, this gives them plenty of space and allows us to get some great photos.
One of the things I like to capture is the moment the bride puts her dress on and we get everything ready for Dad to see his daughter for the first time in her wedding dress.
We had a few minutes whilst we were waiting for the registrar’s, so we had time to get a couple of quick photos of the girls before they headed down stairs for the ceremony.
We had to make the most of the stunning staircase as we headed downstairs for the wedding ceremony.
Nick (the second photographer) met up with Steven and his party at Down Hall.
Down Hall organise this so it can be done in a separate area to Gemma, which gives him the opportunity to relax a little before the start of the day.
Nick took the boys outside as the weather was amazing (early April) and the grounds looked stunning, as always.
Everyone was in the ceremony room and the tension was mounting as we all waited for Gemma and the bridal party to enter this grand room.
There was a comical moment when Gemma’s dress knocked over a couple of the lanterns (unlit) with her dress as she walked up the isle.
After the ceremony we went outside and rather than the traditional confetti, Gemma and Steven opted for bubbles, this worked really well as the weather was really calm for us.
As the guests enjoyed the canapes we took a few candid images before doing the slightly more formal group photos.
There are lots of areas for photos with the bride and groom as well as the wedding party.
Allowing us to get some truly memorable images to remember the day.
As the guests were enjoying their post wedding drinks we headed out to the front of this fantastic building to have a walk around some of the stunning grounds to get a few more photos.
We then went back inside for the receiving line, wedding breakfast and the speeches.
After the speeches we rushed outside to make the most of the setting sun, before capturing the cake cutting and the first dance as Husband and wife, this is a photo that we always like to capture.
This was followed by an emotional dance with Gemma and Dad.
At the end of this blog there is a link to all the wedding day photos as well as a link to a short slideshow showing some of the images from the day.
